Welcome Emmett to the family!

So, Bobby has been buttering me up for a couple of weeks now. Talking about getting a dog and all that jazz... he wanted a boxer, and has been talking about getting one in December for a while now. I've been dreading it because, while they are good dogs, I can't handle the slobber, the dirtyness, the shedding, just everything. Bella doesn't shed, she doesn't get dirty (ok well she does but it's not like for weeks) she doesn't chew my furniture (anymore) she's just a good doggie. I've seen the havoc that Droopy has wreaked on Lisa's house (sorry Lisa lol) and I just DON'T want my brand new house destroyed.

Bella has been acting up a bit lately... I think the post below this one is just one example of how she has been the past few weeks. For the past year of her life, she has been around other dogs all the time. Now that we moved into the house, there's no one to play with and I think it's upsetting her. We come home to her pooping all over the carpet, pee on my brand new carpet, toilet paper destroyed all over the house that she ripped off of the roll in the bathroom, trash cans knocked over and everything inside of them chewed, whining excessively when we come home like she hasn't seen us in years... etc... I have been quite concerned the past few days about her actually.

So, about a week and a half ago, one of the parents at the karate school who works at one of the petsmart clinics brought in this little 6 week old puppy. He was found in the dumpster and no one to claim him in sight. They don't know what he is exactly, but they think he's probably a German Shepard/Rot mix. I've been doing a lot of reading on these dogs and Bobby went to talk to a trainer today. These dogs are very good family dogs, and as long as they are brought up right, they are no problem to their owners and are very loving towards children and other small pets. Bobby has been begging me for a week now to take him. Ugghhh... he is quite adorable, and he's playful! and now he has Ryan all excited about the new puppy (which when bobby asked him what to name the new puppy, Ryan's response was 'puppy' lol) so I finally caved and said okay.... They are brining him home tonight after karate... I swear, if that dog eats my brand new carpet, or furniture, we are going to have some serrrrriooouuuusss issues... lol.

Pictures of the new puppy to come.... here's the only one I have right now.

OHHH and his name is Emmett =] we are keeping with the Twilight theme teeehehehe...

Bad Bella

We have been having issues with Bella whenever we leave the house. I don't know if she does it because she is angry with us leaving, or if she's just bored. But it seems the past week she has been wreeking havoc on our home. So Bobby started putting her in the bathroom when he leaves so she doesn't destroy anything. It's not like she eats furniture or carpet or anything like she used to, she just finds anything on the floor and tears it into a million little pieces, or she poops. So she has been good for a few days so today I took her face in my hands and I had a nice long talk with her before I went to work. Yes, I talk to my dog, I love her. lol. I looked at her and told her "NOOOO poopoo on the rug! be a good girl for mommy". Well, Bobby came home, and she had no poopoo! But, he did find this....

What ever will I do with her?????

Rhyolite, NV Day Trip

Rhyolite, NV

Established in 1905, once gold was found the previous fall in the area. People started to come to Rhyolite in droves to get their piece of the pie. In just a few short years this town boomed into a full fledged city. It was the 2nd largest city in Nevada at the time in fact! They had electricity and running water, and even a train station where trains would come in throughout the day. The town had multiple banks, stores, and post office. This little city seemed to go from tents to brick buildings over night. The picture above is what it looked like at its peak.

Bobby and I drove 2 hours out to Beatty a couple weeks ago to go and visit this town, which is one of the largest 'ghost towns' in Nevada today. There are still standing buildings and an open air museum that this little old couple maintains. An artist has given some of his art to display which is really cool. I dont remember his name off hand, I'll look it up on the papers we have at home and update this when I find it. Anyway, here are some of the pictures from the open air museum at the welcome center.

Next it was on to the sights of the town! They have some really cool things still standing! First up was the bottle house. This house was made out of over 30,000 wiskey bottles!!! It was restored a few years ago, some of the bottles had been broken, so they dug bottles out of the foundation, and replaced the foundation then put those bottles in place of the broken ones. There is a large fence around this place so we couldn't go inside, they probably want to keep it nice, which is understandable, but I would have loved to go inside!

Bottle House

Strozzi Home

Here is a house (or what's left of it) that the Strozzi family lived in. It just so happened to be right next to the rail road and the pamplet we got said that the little girl who lived there always looked tired because the train would run right next to their house all night while she tried to sleep. Bobby asked if he could kick the house to see if the walls would stand up to his side kick... To that of course my answer was NO!!! lol men, always having to prove something right????

This next building is an old general store. It's amazing how some of these things are still around more than 100 years after they were built!! The history of this building is that it's been carted around quite alot. A family owned it, and the building was removed for quite some time, then brought back to Rhyolite in the 70's again. It sure has stood the test of time though!

Going back to the main road we came across a couple different banks. The first bank was the smaller of the two, and was in pretty bad shape. Here it is.

Cook Bank
Here is the Cook Bank! Cook Bank, was also in pretty bad shape, but you can see that it was once a magnificent building! In fact, it was the tallest of any other building in Rhyolite, and is said to be the building that you could see from anywhere in town. The bank had marble flooring imported from Italy, mahogany wood, and inside plumbing. The post office ran out of the basement of this building, which was the last business open in Rhyolite. This was my favorite building to take pictures of, it's absolutely exquisite.

here is what it looked like in 1908

Next was the Rhyolite school. This was the last big building that was built in Rhyolite. It cost $20,000 to build, and the town board floated a $20,000 bond to build it, but it wasn't paid off until 1972! The school is pretty much gutted out, and that's because the Beatty middle school recycled everything and used it for their school. here are some fun pictures of this building, it was my personal favorite, next to the cook bank.

Think we listened????

NoPe

Next is the train depot. This building cost $130,000 to builld, by far the most expensive building in the town. By this time, a lot of people had moved out of Rhyolite, the economy was going down and only a few hundred people remained to even use this depot.

I had a really wonderful time with my hubby to be, it took the entire day to do this and gave us some extra bonding time in the car....
"your going to fast" "Don't pass yet there's someone coming!" " are we there yet???" "I don't like this song" "can you not drive like a crazy person???" "your going to slow!" "I need food I'm hungry" "your speeding!!!" "shouldn't we stop for gas?"
hehehe, fun times =]
Here are some miscellaneous pictures...

A whole bunch of motorcycle guys were there when we got there.

I love this picture... I don't know why it just looks really cool to me

eeewww snakes!

Bobby loves this picture. I think he just likes to look at my butt ;-) I guess it does have a creative-ness to it.

Lied Childrens Discovery Museum

I decided I'm really bad at remembering to update this... In all fairness, we moved 2 weeks ago and life has been INCREDIBLY hectic! We don't even have internet at home yet. So please forgive my neglect! =]

A few weeks ago we took Ryan to Lied Children's Discovery Museum. Bobby thought he would have fun there. Myself not having grown up here, had NO clue this place even existed. It was probably the coolest thing for kids ever. We ended up staying for about 3 1/2 hours and Ryan had a blast. Bobby and myself had a lot of fun as well. For the summer they have the 'gross-ology exhibit' there, and you're supposed to learn about all the 'gross' stuff that goes on in your body. Informative, but definitely GROSS!! The first exhibit you come to is 'smells'. They have an explanation about how the odors that come out of your body are due to certain bacteria in those parts of the body. They had 4 or 5 little nozzles you had to squeeze the bottle, and guess the smell. Well they weren't pleasant!!! They had 'feet' and 'armpit' and 'fart' and the last one was 'anus' it really was GROSS!!! Bobby smelled the 'anus' one and I thought he was going to puke right on the floor. His face was priceless though. He tried to get Ryan to smell, and he did and he got all mad and said 'eewwww'. It was great. There was also a lifesize opperation! like the game you had as a kid, but big! that was what I liked, I was so excited. haha. They had a bubble area and of course Ryan was infatuated by it. The cool big bubble maker was the best! You stand on a platform and then pull the rope and it surrounds you with a big bubble! but you have to do it just right for it to work. But they had a whole bubble station to make big bubbles small bubbles. Ryan loved that part.

They had a play place for todlers, Ryan is just at the cusp of that height. He's getting so tall! so he played there for a bit, they had a plane you can fly which he spent a lot of our time there in. Kids and their imaginations, I wish as adults we could have the same imagination we had as kids. Life would be so much more fun! While flying the plane there was a little boy that didn't want Ryan to fly the plane,so he kept grabbing his arm trying to take it off of the wheel. It happened about 3 times before Bobby and I both looked at eachother pretty much at the same time and said we wondered how many more times Ryan was gonna let the bratty kid do that before he punched him. lol, after it continued and Ryan started getting worked up we decided to grab Ryan and go play with other stuff, since the other kids parents weren't doing anything to detur their child from being a snotty brat. I swear I don't understand other parents some times... Anyway, we did all kinds of stuff and were there for hours. Ryan did some sand art and he loved all the colors, he kept saying the colors and pointing to what he wanted, and poured it in the bottle. At first he grabbed a pen to fill with sand but it was so small, we switched and got a bottle. We went in a hurricane simulator where the winds were over 80 mph and that was cool. They had a lot of block movers and leavers teaching kids how pullys work and stuff. They had just a lot of really cool stuff there that was educational and fun at the same time. Ryan didn't want to leave. It will definitely be a place we visit again.

I love this picture.

In the hurricane simulator, lovin it!

Playing, he had a blast!
